Disappearance of spider veins is typically achieved, but similar veins sometimes appear in the same general area.

Top Five Non-surgical Procedures

Friday, April 2nd, 2010

According to data collected by The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery there were almost 10 million surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures performed in 2009. And surgical procedures only accounted for 15% of the total. That means that 85% of all cosmetic procedures completed in 2009 were non-surgical.

The top five non-surgical procedures in 2009 as concluded by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery were:

1. Botox injection (2,557,068 procedures)

2. hyaluronic acid (1,313,038 procedures)

3. laser hair removal (1,280,031 procedures)

4. microdermabrasion (621,943 procedures)

5. chemical peel (529,285 procedures)

Botox injections can be used to prevent the formation of wrinkles by paralyzing facial muscles. Effective treatment will provide positive anti-aging benefits for up to 6 months. Hyaluronic acid injections temporarily smooth wrinkles by adding volume under the skin. Effects typically last for 6 months. Laser hair removal uses laser technology to remove hair from the body (popular areas include, back, legs, chest, etc.)

Microdermabrasion removes or partially removes the outermost layer of the skin (mostly dead skin cells). This treatment can be effective for those with sun damaged skin. It can also be used to remove or lessen scars or dark spots. Chemical peels are used to slough off dead skin using a chemical solution. Regenerated skin is typically smoother and less wrinkled.
