Benefits Can Be Had With Burn Scar Removal

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

The word scar comes from the Greek word “schara” which means place of fire. Scars are a frequent occurrence due to the fact that damaged tissues have only two options for action: regeneration and scarring. While this is an undeniable fact many still act surprised or upset when scarring occurrs.

There is a natural healing process by which the body deals with wounds minor, moderate and severe. And scarring is a natural part of this process. The more severe the injury…the more likely that scarring will be drastic.

Scar tissue can have inferior function in comparison to the original tissue it is replacing. This means that scarred tissues can have a decreased resistance to ultraviolet radiation, lack of sweat glands, lack of hair follicle growth, etc.

BioCosmetic Center’s Eric Jantze said, “Burn scar removal is a very popular procedure here at the Center. Burn scars are often drastic, highly visible and in some instances can even inhibit movement.”

When a burn occurs there are steps that can be taken to reduce visible scarring:

1. Immediately apply a mixture (cold water/tumeric) to the burn area. If tumeric isn’t available then substitute cold milk. The cold water is meant to decrease the burning sensation to provide relief. The tumeric (or cold milk) is meant to reduce generation of scar tissue.

2. No lotions or creams should until the burn is healed completely. The only exception would be if an individual was instructed to do so by a physician or medical professional.

3. While homeopathic remedies have been in use for years as effective treatments for many ailments and conditions there is not one that is effective in removing scars. Burn scar removal is only available through effective laser procedures.

Laser burn scar removal is very effective. But it will never result in full removal of the scarring. Scars cannot be eliminated. Drastic reduction is the best option considering that scarring is a part of the natural healing process. But confidence levels and self image can truly benefit from the visible reduction of scarring that is available through laser burn scar removal.

HSDD And Bioidentical Hormones

Wednesday, August 4th, 2010

What is HSDD? Basically, it is hypoactive sexual desire disorder. And according to a recent study found in Arch Intern Med (2008 Jul 14;168(13):1441-9) HSDD rates are quite high. HSDD is defined by a drastic lack of sexual desire. Expert diagnosis should be obtained prior to seeking treatment.

In order for a lack of sexual desire to indicate HSDD the lack must be not only noticeable, but problematic. Problematic would indicate that it is causing distress in the relationship to the individual experiencing the HSDD or the sexual partner. Care needs to be taken when diagnosing HSDD due to the general nature of the symptoms and the fact that they can indicate a number of other physical/mental conditions.

Finding the “cause” of the HSDD can be difficult. It can vary widely depending upon the situation at hand. There are different kinds of HSDD making it even more difficult because they can present with different symptoms. The condition can be caused (or escalated/exacerbated) by: inadequate testosterone levels, high prolactine, a variety of psychiatric problems, imbalances in the hormones, etc. In some cases the HSDD will be diagnosed, but cause may never be identified.

Women can find it difficult to determine if they are experiencing a normal lull in sexual desire or if they are experiencing signs of HSDD. Lack of sex drive can be normal for some women. Women having difficulty determining if they are experiencing normal lulls or HSDD should consider how long the lull has lasted. If it has been long enough to create a problem in the relationship then HSDD could be present.

The study outlined in Arch Intern Med indicated high rates of HSDD. It indicated HSDD rates are highest amongst menopausal women. It also indicated that rates are highest amongst surgically menopausal women. Women experiencing menopause naturally have noticeably lower rates of HSDD than those who are experiencing surgically induced menopause.

According to a second study published in Menopause (2006 Jan-Feb;13(1):46-56) age isn’t a big factor for HSDD. It can be found in women of all ages and reproductive stages. Those at the greatest risk for HSDD are young, surgically menopausal women.

There are no pharmaceutical treatments available for HSDD. But bioidentical hormones treatment can offer effective reduction and/or elimination of the condition and symptoms. Eric Jantze of BioCosmetic Center said, “With proper diagnosis and monitored treatment women with HSDD can see a drastic improvement in their symptoms…sometimes they can experience a total elimination of their symptoms and feel ‘normal’ again.”

Risk factors for HSDD have been going up so it is important that individuals are aware of the condition so they can seek proper diagnosis and treatment. Accessing bioidentical hormones therapy is a positive move for most women with HSDD or suspicions of HSDD. Drastic relief can be found through proper diagnosis and treatment.

Learning About Keloid Scar Removal

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

The scar removal process has become more effective in recent years. This is due to recent laser technology advancements. The laser based procedure of scar removal is now more effective than ever. The incorporation of the latest laser technology makes it possible for practitioners to target more precisely and more efficiently alleviate scarring.

The most popular types of scar eligible for scar removal are keloid scarring and acne scarring. Keloid scarring is most likely a popular choice for removal due to the fact that the scar removal process is most effective against keloid scars. This type of scar is raised off the skin. It ranges in color from brown to pink and it appears as a rubbery lesion, firm and fibrous. It also typically extends beyond the original area of the wound that caused scarring.

Keloid scars are not contagious. They are also benign. These basic classifications leave many in the medical industry considering their removal a voluntary or purely cosmetic procedure. But some argue that there are certain instances in which keloid scar removal is a vital procedure for the patient.

Some of the situations in which keloid scar removal can be considered a vital procedure include:

1. Severe itching related to keloid scarring. It can be in the area of scarring or in the area directly around the scarring. Both can be cause for concern.

2. Pain related to keloid scarring.

3. Growth continuing beyond the original wound boundaries. While almost all keloid scars extend beyond the original boundaries of the wound; in this instance the keloid scarring is continuing to grow after the fact. The growth is especially extensive or problematic.

4. When the texture of the keloid scarring shows signs of change.

5. Inhibited skin movement due to keloid scarring.

Eric Jantze of BioCosmetic Center said, “I used to be surprised that people would call in after completed keloid scar removal procedures to let us know just how much it changed their lives. It no longer surprises me. It obviously makes a huge difference in the lives of many.”

Discussing Laser Liposuction?

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

Many patients considering liposuction choose laser liposuction over traditional liposuction. After researching the two different methods potential patients are able to quickly determine that laser liposuction is advantageous in comparison to traditional lipo because it is more effective and less invasive. Because it’s less invasive it requires less recovery time.

Recent laser technology advancements have made these benefits possible. The liposuction procedures has evolved. It is now a safer and more efficient process. This makes more individuals interested in accessing the results available through liposuction. The most recent advancements in laser liposuction are used in the process referred to as SlimLipo. This lipo process is based on the melting away of fat in targeted areas in comparison to cutting the fat out in traditional lipo methods.

Benefits of SlimLipo:

1.     Decreased body trauma (melting the fat is less traumatic than tearing or cutting the fat out)

2.     Higher rates of fat removal: The laser technology is highly targeted making the results of laser liposuction more efficient (offering better results) than traditional lipo.

3.     Skin tightening as a result of dermal heating: with traditional lipo patients often need to incorporate a skin tightening procedure after the fact. With laser liposuction skin tightening as a separate procedure is required far less often.

4.     Local anesthesia (less chance for complications)

5.     Decreased bruising

6.     Decreased discomfort

7.     Decreased recovery time (because it’s less invasive)

What is the actual SlimLipo process? SlimLipo is a laser liposuction. It uses a laser with dual wavelength technology. The first wavelength melts fat and the second tightens skin in the surrounding area. It is currently recognized as the most efficient and effective liposuction method available.

Specific areas are able to be targeted using the latest lasers. Smaller areas are able to be covered by SlimLipo in addition to the traditional, larger areas: back, legs, thighs, ankles, chin, arms, etc.

The laser liposuction procedure offers many advantages. Accessing the service through a reputable cosmetic center means that potential patients and patients will have access to professionals that can answer their every question regarding equipment used, preparation required for the procedure, probably results, etc.

BioCosmetic Center Accesses Latest Laser Liposuction Technology

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

BioCosmetic Center accesses the latest laser liposuction technology. The latest laser based liposuction is referred to as SlimLipo. SlimLipo is a process during which fat is melted. In comparison, traditional liposuction tears through fat tissues in order to remove them.

Benefits of SlimLipo include:

1.    Less body trauma (melting vs. tearing)
2.    Significant fat removal
3.    Dermal heating resulting in skin tightening
4.    Only local anesthesia required
5.    Minimal bruising
6.    Minimal discomfort
7.    Minimal recovery time (most patients are back to work within 2 days)

The SlimLipo laser liposuction process uses the latest dual laser wavelength technology. One wavelength selects and melts fat. The second wavelength tightens skin in the area.

Eric Jantze of BioCosmetic Center said, “SlimLipo offers a great number of benefits in comparison to traditional liposuction. It’s an obvious advancement in the industry. But one thing that many don’t realize is that it also offers the desired results. It offers results equal to or better than traditional liposuction.”

SlimLipo can be effectively performed on almost any part of the body. The extremely targeted nature of the laser makes it possible for small pockets of fat in hard to reach areas to be targeted just as effectively as larger areas. Areas that can benefit from SlimLipo include (but are not limited to): arms, belly, back, thighs, knees, chin, legs, buttocks, hips, ankles, etc.

BioCosmetic Center Releases Top 5 Reasons to Visit HCG Diet Clinics

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

BioCosmetic Center releases Top 5 Reasons to Visit HCG Diet Clinics. The main reason stated for visiting HCG Diet Clinics is “to lose weight.” But when it comes to the reasons behind the weight loss desire…there are more details to consider.

Top 5 Reasons to Visit HCG Diet Clinics:

1.    Health Reasons: many individuals are inspired to lose at the urging of a physician as their health deteriorates or they become aware of their increased risk for many common illnesses and diseases.
2.    Summer: the number of individuals looking to lose weight fluctuates by season. For obvious reasons there’s much higher interest in “drastic weight loss” when summer time approaches.
3.    Special Events: individuals often need (or desperately want) to lose weight for specific events like weddings, divorces, high school reunions, family reunions, etc.
4.    Travel or vacations: traveling at an overweight or obese weight is uncomfortable. It begins with the seating on the airline. Overweight or obese individuals who are going to feel cramped in the narrow seats are expected to purchase 2 seats to accommodate their size. Rather than deal with this type of negative influence on vacation many are visiting HCG Diet Clinics to rid themselves of the issue once and for all.
5.    Life Stage: many men and women find themselves suddenly aware of their increased weight when the kids are grown and they have an “empty nest.” And becoming more aware of it makes them very interested in losing the weight quickly.

Eric Jantze of BioCosmetic Center said, “Most individuals who aren’t at an optimum weight think about it regularly, but there’s usually a specific event or instance that inspires them to actually go for it and lose the weight. We always see a lot of new interest in HCG Diet Clinics right before summer and there’s always a steady stream of interest from individuals who are looking for increased general health.”

BioCosmetic Center offers all inclusive, personalized programs to aid individuals in obtaining their physical goals. Programs can include any of the following: acne scar removal, liposuction, Botox, weight loss, scar removal, bio-identical hormones, dermal fillers, and more.

Hormone Replacement Can Have Negative Outcomes

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

Changing someone’s life with hormone replacement is easy. Hormone replacement can provide individuals with myriad health issues with a seemingly fresh slate. People who haven’t been able to even consider feeling “good” for years are able to achieve better general health through hormonal balancing. It is vital.

But everybody with a general medical issue doesn’t need hormone replacement. It is a therapy that applies strictly to hormone imbalances. Everyone who is sad or depressed, overweight or obese will not benefit from hormone replacement.

Thinking this way can be very detrimental. It can have very negative outcomes if people have hormone replacement therapy without actually needing hormone replacement. Proper testing and diagnosis is required in order to identify clinical deficiencies and low hormone levels prior to hormone replacement of any kind. Individuals who don’t have the proper testing often end up treating only one of several issues or treating issues that aren’t actually causing a problem. Their symptoms will likely continue to escalate until the correct hormonal balancing is completed.

Experienced professionals should require very thorough testing prior to hormone replacement. But once testing is completed an experienced professional should also first prescribe natural remedies based on dietary and exercise regimen changes.

The body can often achieve balance on its own. This allows for minimal interference. Changes to the exercise regime and the general activity level as well as nutrition requirements can often make a difference to hormone levels. If they do not alleviate the problem then hormone replacement is often considered next.

Individuals over the age of 30 are typically interested in hormonal imbalances and hormone replacement. This is most likely due to the fact that many individuals over the age of 30 in today’s society are suffering from a hormonal imbalance. But altering hormone levels when there is no hormonal imbalance can have horrible effects. But accurately identified low levels and clinical deficiencies can be efficiently treated with hormone replacement.

Negative effects of hormone replacement almost always occur when hormone replacement therapy is in place without first properly identifying all the hormone levels. Often hormone replacement is considered a cure all. This is not true. Treating hormone replacement as a cure all is detrimental to the general health of the individual. It is a very effective therapy, but only when hormone levels are accurately identified and specifically treated.

Avoiding problems that come with inaccurate hormone replacement therapy can be avoided by working with an experienced professional. Insist on a complete hormone level exam with blood testing in order to begin your hormone replacement therapy with accuracy and for greatest positive results.

Liposuction Costs Have Decreased While Results Are Better

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010

The drastic decrease of liposuction costs is fantastic. But it’s far more important that the actual results provided by liposuction procedures have experienced even more drastic improvements. The improved results come from the increased accuracy provided by the tools based on the latest laser technology. Along with increased accuracy liposuction patients benefit from a drastic decrease in the invasive nature of liposuction as well as a drastic decrease in both possibility for complications and recovery times.

The popularity of liposuction has increased (and it was already popular). Many indicate that the popularity is really only a reflection of liposuction costs decreasing and making it more available to more people. And this is definitely something to consider. But a recent study indicates that this isn’t the  main reason for the increase in popularity. According to the study young adults had higher percentages of approval for cosmetic procedures than any other age group. This indicates to many that “liposuction costs” aren’t the main force behind the increasing popularity since the young adult age group doesn’t typically consider costs as high a priority as nearly every other age demographic.

The teen group isn’t usually very quick to consider the financial aspects of their decisions. At least not as a high priority. This is a consideration that reaches the top of the list of priorities later in life. The study mentioned was commissioned by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and was conduced by an independent research firm called Synovate. The results obviously point out that the highest percentage of approval for cosmetic procedures falls in the young adult group. This goes to show that cost isn’t the main consideration.

Not that liposuction costs aren’t being considered. They have to be considered. Individuals can’t have liposuction unless they pay for it. But not only are other aspects of the decision being given higher priority, but more clinics are offering financing that makes it more available to more people. If an individual can’t pay up front for their procedure they can most likely make payments.

Cosmetic procedures on the whole are far more mainstream than ever before. They are obviously beneficial for their aesthetic advantages, but more than that…they are just a more accepted part of today’s society.

Having cosmetic work, done used to be seen as taboo. Many would refuse to admit they had any cosmetic procedures done. They would deny it if asked. In today’s social atmosphere it is more likely that they would want to discuss it thoroughly. They want to talk about the procedure, their doctor, their recovery time…all of it.

People of all ages indicate to their peers and family members which procedures they want to have done “someday” and which they are going to have done now and which they have already done. It is a normal topic of conversation. People have no qualms claiming they want to have “work done.” It is no longer taboo to embrace cosmetic procedures.

This new acceptance of all things cosmetic is to the advantage of individuals looking to have work done. While it most likely isn’t based on the liposuction costs…the new acceptance makes it easier for individuals not well versed in the cosmetic industry to make knowledgeable decisions regarding cosmetic procedures. They are able to take advantage of freely offered advice and honest discussions on the topic. This attitude increases the possibility for long term satisfaction after cosmetic procedures.

Sclerotherapy Treatments Reduce Spider Veins

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

Individuals with spider veins or varicose veins benefit greatly from sclerotherapy treatments. After several successful sclerotherapy treatments patients see 50 to 90% improvement. Patients should be aware prior to start of treatment that fading of visible veins is gradual and can take several months to remove entirely.

While there are preventative methods that can reduce the risk for spider veins/varicose veins they are not a guarantee that the problem will not present itself. These preventative methods include:

1. Support hose: wearing support hose minimizes the development of unwanted blood vessels.

2. Losing weight or maintaining a healthy weight: Overweight/obesity both increase the risk for varicose veins/spider veins drastically.

3. Exercise: regular exercise keeps circulation at a healthy level and decreases the risk of varicose veins/spider veins.

4. Diet/Nutrition: Eating a diet packed with high fiber decreases the risk for varicose veins/spider veins.

5. Shoes: High heeled shoes increase the risk for varicose veins/spider veins. So wearing low heeled shoes is an effective preventative measure.

6. Sun protection: protecting the skin of the face effectively decreases the probability of getting unwanted vessels in the facial area).

In addition to removing the visible veins, sclerotherapy also reduces the symptoms that go along with the problem. Typical symptoms include aching, burning and swelling in the legs as well as nocturnal leg cramps. Spider veins are more common in women than men, but men who have spider veins can access results using sclerotherapy treatment. Age is not a factor in treatment, although most cases of spider veins/varicose veins are more problematic as an individual ages.
